Is there a preferred (cost and convenience) car rental place outside of Venice? We will be renting a car for over three weeks in May-June 2025. We have used Eurocar to help us in past trips. Any other suggestions? Thank you.
Try Padua. It’s a 20-minute train ride and gets you out of the congestion around Venice.
www.AutoEurope.com represents agencies located downtown, at Padua’s rail station and airport.
BTW, it’s an interesting historic town, as well.
Piazzale Roma is in Venice but not difficult at all to get out of. The Liberty bridge to the mainland starts there.
Another option could be Mestre (on the opposite side of the Liberty bridge). There are rental offices at the Mestre station. Yet another option is the Venice airport. However that option will entail additional time and expense to get there, and picking up at airports in Italy always costs more in rental fees as well because of airport taxes and fees.

We were in Venice a couple years ago and picked up a car at the airport. It was easy to get the Alilaguna boat to the airport and then walk over to the rental counter. We left the airport and got on the motorway toward Vicenza and I don’t recall any unusual traffic. Good luck!
