I'll be dropping a rental car off in Naples, checking out town and heading to Sorrento. A couple of my searchs give the option to drop at the airport or train station. I'm sure traffic in Naples is no picnic. Any suggestions? Thanks Mike
OK, I've never actually driven in Naples, but I would suggest that you avoid it like the PLAGUE. I have friends in Italy (Italians) and they won't go there without a hired driver, OK! Where are you coming from that you will need a car to get to Naples? I would highly suggest that you NOT drive a car to Naples. Period.
Drop the car off at the airport and catch the airport bus to Sorrento. It leaves from the front of the Arrivals Hall, costs 10 euro pp (Oct 2009) and pay the driver. Timetable below.
I'll be coming in from Assisi. I would just drop the car in Rome (which I still may do) but the train to Naples is 44 euros per person while the car rental is (or about) the same (because I think it is per day). Thanks for the suggestions. Mike
Okay, I actually drive in Naples from time to time. It's no better nor no worse than any other city. What I'd let govern is the closest/most convenient spot to catch the transpotation to Sorrento.
