Best Budget Option FCO to Florence

We will be arriving at FCO in Rome at approximately noon on November 24. We want to travel up to Florence where we have a hotel reservation for a few days. We are planning to take a train but I am surprised by the price - 45E and up for the high speed trains in addition to the 14E for the express from the airport to the Termini and there are only a couple of regional trains available for 17E plus. Compared to other routes, this seems expensive and there are three of us, so it adds up. We will be taking the train Florence to Pisa (approx. 6E) and Pisa to Civitavecchia (14+E). Anyone have any advice for a budget option for 2PM or later to get from Rome to Florence? Thank you.l

You could look to see if any MINI fares are avaiable. On that day, Nov, 24 the fast trains - with the current available MINI's - are costing: 13:45 Train - €19 14:15 Train - €36
14:45 Train - €27 Go to the Le Frecce section of the Trenitalia site to see all prices (Flessible, Base, and Mini) side-by-side for each train. For help on buying tickets on line, going ticketless, and the MINI ticket option, you might read Booking on the Trenitalia Website, Going "Ticketless" and Using PNR Codes on Trenitalia, and the Trenitalia MINI promotion These MINI's are priced by Trenitalia so availability - and prices - can change at any given time.

Thank you. I found the mini fares but we don't know how long it will take us to clear the airport. We will have arrived from a stay in Amsterdam but being non-EU don't know how long we may be held up. we arrive at 12:05 and I am afraid being at the Termini by 13:45 is too ambitious.

Just adding another thank you. Got great mini fares for a slightly later train and booked another train for a later date from Pisa to Civitavecchia. Had no trouble at all with the Trenitialia website as long as I registered and logged on. (Without logging on, the site did not want to sell me the mini fares - told me to select another option/fare/train). It accepted my US VISA card with no problem at all. Thanks for helping me save big $$$!
