Travelling there next April 2025 and want to secure tickets. Not only am I looking for the best sights but how far in advance can you secure ticket?
Cec, this is the Vatican Museum's own official ticketing website:
https://www.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani/en.html
It's WAY too early to be looking at Vatican Museum tickets a year from now. They usually only go on sale 60 days in advance but anything could change between now and next year.
If you buy tickets anywhere except the official Vatican Museums website, you are paying a big markup. But they are not on sale until a couple months before.
IIRC, they go on sale incrementally by the time period throughout the day, rather than all at once for a certain day. There are a variety of options in addition to simply the tickets, including breakfast plus tickets, lunch plus tickets, after hours, etc.
I don't think there are breakfast tours any longer. It's one of the changes made recently.
It's a good idea to look ahead of time at the descriptions and costs of the various options so you'll know what you want. Last year they seemed to put the various tours on sale before the regular entry tickets, and I'm not sure all the tours for a certain went on sale the same day, either. I don't know whether that pattern has changed this year, as so much has.
