Best B&B in Salerno

We have just returned from a five week vacation in Europe (3.5 weeks in Italy). We loyally followed recommendations from Rick Steves and were able to put together a fantastic itinerary that ended in Salerno. Rick recommends Salerno over other towns along the Amalfi Coast so we took those recommendations and found the most fantastic B&B we've ever experienced. I was so shocked after staying here that this particular B&B had not been recommended specifically. I just felt I had to write to let people know that if they want a truly local experience with absolutely amazing hosts, you have to stay at Salerno Centro Bed & Breakfast!

This B&B is located right in the centre of town, so close to the beach, the trains and everything wonderful about Salerno. Where can I begin to talk about the hosts? From the very first communication with Francesco, we felt that this was going to be a wonderful experience. He was always providing suggestions for things to do and offered to book excursions etc. wherever we wanted to go. He answered every email promptly and was a joy to work with. Once we arrived (after being lost when we were dropped off), Francesco came to rescue us from the street on his scooter. We arrived at the correct location (there is another B&B with a similar name) and didn't know quite what to expect when we saw the very small wooden doors we needed to enter through. We were so amazingly surprised at what greeted us on Level 1. This B&B is an old convent and you would expect that it would be a little rough around the edges. Not so!! All the rooms were beautifully decorated and updated, great A/C and even a stocked fridge that would be restocked each day if you just left your few euros on top. Everything from the morning breakfast to the front office area, just felt like home and Francesco, Lina, Paola and Pasquale made us feel like part of the family. We were welcomed into Lena and Pasquale's home for a cooking class and spent the evening with them learning all about them - it was amazing! Francesco was always available to drive you if needed, and to act as a tour guide if wanted. The entire family went above an beyond to make you feel welcome. Just check out TripAdvisor for some of the reviews and you will see what I mean.

In ending, Rick Steves, please check this place out and review it as I'm sure you will be recommending it once you've been there! This family deserves recognition for what they have and what they offer. I look forward to reading about them on your forum in the very near future!

Thank you!
