Best area in Rome for people with limited mobility who need to return to the apart. during the day?

Looking for a neighborhood in Rome that is somewhat central for this purpose especially since we will not be using the underground as there are too many stairs. We will be taking taxis or city bus. Nice, safe and in the middle would be great. I am looking on Airbnb and when it say choose the neighborhood, I'm at a loss.

Is there a map of the neighborhoods? We are going for 6 nights this November.

Campo de Fiori and Trastevere neighborhoods are good choices in choosing an airbnb located in a nice area of Rome.

Look into this hotel to stay. It's centrally located to all the major attractions.

Two years ago we rented an apartment at via dei Baullari 4. It is between Piazza Navona and Campo de Fiori off of Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. There is a taxi rank across Corso Emanuele at Piazza di San Pantaleo. We thought the taxis in Rome were very economical especially if there is more than 1 passenger. A ride from the top of the Spanish Steps to our apartment was less than 10 euros with 4 passengers. The Vatican to our apartment was less than 5. The Colosseum was 15-20 minute walk as was the Vatican.
We didn't find the buses to be reliable so took taxis when we didn't want to walk. If this sounds like a possible location for you, select Piazza Navona or Campo de Fiori as neighborhoods.

Campo de' Fiori would be in the Regola rione, but just choose "Roma Centro" (Central Rome) and look at the Airbnb map after you've plugged in your dates and any other requirements (e.g. elevator). You need to familiarize yourself with a tourist map of the historic center of Rome. Your guidebook will have one. If you don't have a guidebook, get one. It will be the smartest money you spend on your vacation. (There's this Rick Steves guy who does a pretty good one.) (^_^)

Got it. Thanks all...... hubby also picked me up a best of Italy Rick Steves book and ordered a few extras too. I love planning almost as much as the trip itself.

You are so kind to help. I can’t wait to see Rome through new eyes. I went on a school trip to Europe when I was 17. Blink you miss it and I hardly remember Rome at all. We went to Villa D’Estes in Tivoli and I remember that. I have a picture of the Colosseum inside but I have no memory of that at all and my memory is usually very good. I remember Florence, Assisi and Pisa but Rome seems to have been deleted over the past 30 years. Looking forward to making new memories.

We will be there mid November 2020. ( we do Ireland this year) but I think Italy has me even more excited for some reason.
