Best Apps to download

Hi
I will be traveling to Italy in a late Sept. I would love some useful and recommend apps you have used that you were glad you had.

In addition to what suggested in the above thread, for public transportation directions in Italy I would use https://moovitapp.com/
It's the top choice application in Italy for that purpose.

If you drive a car, Waze is the best at warning you about speed cameras.

As suggested above trenitalia and italotreno apps are necessary if you take trains.

If you plan to take a bus in Florence and Tuscany, download the Autolinee Toscane app
https://www.at-bus.it/en/app
(I think for directions it connects to Moovit).

TripAdvisor is also better for restaurant reviews than Yelp. Europeans don't use Yelp much, so most reviews on Yelp are not by locals. The Fork (which is affiliated to TripAdvisor) is also widely used.

WhatsApp is absolutely essential for communication with locals and with your family and friends at home (tell them to download it if they don't have it. Don't use regular phone calls or regular texts while abroad, use WhatsApp..

I went to all those cities in Jan, and on top of the apps mentioned, one I loved was "Visit a City"

It allows you put together itineraries for the day, We found it absolutely fantastic.

It has the ability to put in your hotel (or Airbnb) and set up routes and places to see. For the popular places it has information in the app.

I planned out a couple of days at each location. You could see timings, and where you needed to be, as well as easily access Google maps or other mapping to walk you from location to location.

We put together day tours for
Venice (2 days). The third day we went to Murano and Burano, so did not use it then
Verona (1 Day and it was fantastic and perfect)
Florence (3 days). We stayed 7 nights, but wanted structure on 3 days
Rome (3 Days). Same thing again, stayed 7 nights but got great structure for 3 days
Salerno (1 day)

What is cool, if you can add your own stops. Eg, ad a restaurant, or somewhere you need to be, and allocate a time. We added extras in every city.

They sell tours and activities through the app, but we did not buy any.

Other apps from my Trip, Trenit!, hi!tide, WISE, CheBateo. I couldnt download Trenitallia in my country, so used the web login, which was good.

Hope that helps
