We are bring a smartphone and an IPAD on our upcoming trip to Italy. As we will be driving in Tuscany, we want to use something that will get us around backroads and major roads as well. We are using Google Maps and are finding that it cannot always find a location in Tuscany. Is there a better App to use? Thank you!

We make sure we have downloaded all the areas we are goinging on our Google maps before we leave. We also plan out the next route while we have internet at a hotel or restaurant (most places have wifi). We then use the blue ball satellite to tell us exactly where we are. My husband's Samsung Google maps seems to do better than my iPad Google maps. I always also take a paper map for where we're going- I buy one used through Amazon. I also used the many of the suggested routes in the DK Eyewitness Guide Backroads Northern Italy. I learned many wonderful roads and places from them. Borrowed a copy from my library.
