We are leaving Rome June 18 to get to Amalfi. I've been told the best thing to do is take a train to Salerno and then a boat to Amalfi. The trains on that Sunday seem to leave late in the afternoon and I'd much prefer to travel there in the morning. Any advice?

There is a semi-annual schedule change update in June, and it appears your travel date is after that. This means that the entire updated (though usually very similar) timetable has yet to be posted for that day. Keep checking back, as they (Trenitalia as well as their competitor Italo) will continue to update their schedule.
