I am currently traveling in Northern Italy. The best RS advice came at the train station in Venice. Buy your vapparetto ticket inside the train station. This saved me an hour of time! By the boats the machines weren’t working (!) so the line for tickets was long and not moving. Thanks Rick!
Biggest rip off was in Bozen at the train station. We checked 2 suitcases for 1 1/2 hours and were charged 13 euros! More than train tickets from Trento.

Not sure why that is considered a " rip-off" ?
You didn't want to carry your bags with you during that time, so you paid to have them stored securely.
E6.50 each for 90 minutes of freedom.

Best advice - look at the price tag before you commit to a purchase.
If the price seems excessive, do not commit to the purchase.
That way you will avoid what some call a rip off.
