Our last full day in Italy tomorrow... Think we will be doing Bergamo tomorrow...we were supposed have been there on Monday... Found last minute that the factories were closed... (Easter)...our fault for not thinking that one thru. Anyway, we did Verenna and Bellagio on monday. Where is the train station in Bergamo in relation to the old town? Thanks to all Italy contributors. For helping to make our trip such a success!

The old historical city center is on top of the hill (Bergamo Alta or High City) the station is in Bergamo Bassa (low city). It's too long to walk (and uphill). Take a taxi.

Per one tourism website: To reach the upper city you can catch bus 1A (which leaves from the railway station) or the funicular. The ticket costs €1,25 and is valid for 75 minutes. There are special tickets for tourists.
