I purchased Rick's Italy 2020 book but cannot find any advice from him about Bergamo. There are plenty of online resources to help build an itinerary. Does anyone know a best website to create a Bergamo itinerary? Thank you.
Hi Anthony,
I will be in Bergamo this year, and one reason is because it’s not in the RS guidebook - less tourists. I booked one of the hotels up on the Alta (upper) section. Some of the websites that have been useful:
The Visit Bergamo website:
https://www.visitbergamo.net/en/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIpMiHp_GA5wIV1iCtBh1qEQA3EAAYASAAEgIHdvD_BwE
And, I always look at the TripAdvisor one, but I don’t book tours through their Viator middleman:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Home-g187830?fid=5b6e82f6-5a47-4d46-b1aa-3540aeb988df
It's a very charming town. We stayed there in 2013 for several nights. Be sure to stay in the upper town. (Rick's books aren't intended to be comprehensive.) I would use the official tourism website for the town:
https://www.visitbergamo.net/
And be prepared to hear virtually no American-accented English as you wander around. It's not on American radar yet. That's a good thing.
Anthony, I found the other site that I really liked. It’s https://www.lovingbergamo.it
Under the heading, “What to See”, there’s a lot of nice photos and info of each to select your interests.
