Has anyone been able to squeeze in a tour of the Beretta factory while on the Rick Steve’s Best of Italy tour? If so, how did you do that? Thank you!

Haven't been on the tour, but looking at the Best of Italy itinerary, that would be next to impossible. The tour takes you from Bolzano to Lake Como (Varenna) by bus, I presume using the freeway. The Beretta factory isn't even along the route, it's located in the town of Gardone Val Trompia, a small town about half hour north of Brescia.
If you are interested in Beretta, you need to go there on your own, but not with RS' tour. To go to the factory you need to take a train to Brescia (on the Milan-Verona railway), then from Brescia take the bus 201 to Gardone Val Trompia.
