Ciao tutti, We are visiting Lake Como area for our first time in August,
From what I am seeing Varenna and Bellaggio are really packed with tourists.
Would Bellano or Mennaggio be a better choice ? Also any hotel recommendations.
We aren't fans of really touritsy areas and like more the local feel.

Menaggio would be my choice, since it has more frequent ferry service than Bellano. Bellano is also nice and has a gorgeous gorge.
August is the busiest of the busiest months of the year, so good luck finding accommodations anywhere. I stayed at the Garni Corona, and loved it. See what they have available.

We stayed five nights in Bellano and really liked it. But as Robert notes, it does not have the ferry connections of MENAGGIO. For that reason, I would prefer Menaggio. With careful planning, Bellano works.

If you struggle to find anything you like in the above villages, check out the hotels in Lenno. Lenno is a nice spot.
