Bellagio to Bergamo

What is the best way to travel from Bellagio to Bergamo? Is there a train? Perhaps the ferry to Varenna and then a train to Bergamo, or do we have to go back to Milan to get to Bergamo by train?

Ferry to Varenna, train to Lecco, change train in Lecco to Bergamo.
