Bellagio - lodging/minimum stay?

I emailed an apt. owner about staying two nights. He replied Italian law requires a minimum of 3 nights to book the apt. Is this true for all lodging in the area of Lake Como or just apartments?

We stayed at La Pergola B&B in Bellagio for two nights. We've stayed in several B&B's and small hotels around Italy for fewer than 3 nights. If there's a minimum stay law in Italy, we haven't encountered it. Of course any lodging owner can impose a minimum stay requirement if he wants. If you really like the place you've found, and if it's worth it to you, you could always offer to pay for 3 nights even if you only stay for two. I'm sure the owner would be happy with that.

I suppose it's possible that there might be such a law for apartments, as opposed to B&Bs. I know that in Umbria, B&Bs are heavily regulated.
