Bellagio in October

Would you take a day trip from Milan to see Lake Como or would you stay for 2 or 3 nights in Bellagio?
My sister adored Bellagio, but she was there in July.

This trip will be combined with Milan, Florence, Tuscany region.

Thanks for your thoughts.
Cheers,
Ellen

I'd take the plunge and hope the weather holds out. No one knows.

We stayed 10 or 11 nights on the lake late September into October. Overcast at times but no heavy rain. Warm enough.

Three nights would be good for Bellagio, Varenna and a villa or two.

We have spent up to two weeks in Bellagio, and it never disappoints.

We took a day trip around Lake Como from Milan a couple of years ago on a BEAUTIFUL October day. Train from Milan Central to Varenna, toured the town for a while and a coffee ... then ferry from Varenna to Bellagio, toured the town and had a fabulous late pizza lunch ... then the slow ferry down Lake Como, briefly stopping at 5-6 little lakeside villages (we stayed on the ferry) ... arriving in the town of Como for a walkabout and drink ... finally returning by train from Como to Milan in time for a late dinner near our apartment. A long but wonderful day ... great memories of Lake Como and all it has to offer.

Thank you!
It was suggested perhaps stay in Verenna vs. Bellagio as it's easier to get around. Opinon?
We're going to stay 3 nights.
I appreciate your responses!
Cheers,
Ellen

A lot of the folks on this forum prefer Varenna, but we liked Bellagio better. We stayed this April at Hotel du Lac and lucked out with great weather. More choices of restaurants and interesting streets to wander (for us). Neither “better”, but both different. Bellagio a bit more upbeat (you might call that touristy) but we found it very pleasant in the mornings and evenings as we were touring somewhere else (quiet Varenna, etc) during the busier mid day.

Ferries run a route between the two plus Menaggio and Tremezzo so I’m not sure one is any more convenient than the other for mid-lake touring. My recollection of the ferry schedule was that Bellagio had better options down the lake to Como.

We spent four nights in Bellagio in early October. From memory the first day was drizzly, but after than we had sunshine and pleasant warmth.

Bellagio was extremely busy, much quieter after the day trippers had left but still busy.

We are returning this year, but will stay in Varenna for a change and hoping that it might be a little quieter.
