Are there significant price differences between the two?

Yes there can be significant differences depending on the level of quality you want in a B&B. Personally the ability to have peace of mind in a B&B. I always travel with luggage and it is nice to know that you can leave your room and not worry about someone going through your bags. Or better yet to know that when you are asleep in your room that your possessions are safe. My recommendation would be to splugre and get a B&B, look them up online, some are as cheap as 50euros a night.

Carson, yes there can be a difference in price based on the quality. I believe Marisa is incorrect as most hostels have private rooms. You can choose to stay in a private room, which is your room & only your room. Or a dorm, where the room has several beds & you will be rooming with other people. In spending 3 months in Europe last summer I stayed in hostels with private rooms and the rooms were immaculate & we had NO security issues.
