We are going to Rome in August and I am looking for advice on day trip ideas. I am hoping to find a coastal town to explore and maybe relax at a nearby beach. Any one with suggestions?

The closest beach to Rome is Ostia, and it is about 35 minutes by train from Piramide Station.
Ostia is not the nicest beach, but it is convenient (especially during the week when it is much less crowded).
The nicer beaches (those within 2 hours or so from Rome would be sperlonga, sabaudia, and santa marinella,
