My family will be traveling to Rome this summer and are planning on taking a day trip to the beaches in Sperlonga. I am interested in reserving a spot at one of the stabilimenti (private beach areas) there. Is it possible for a day-tripping tourist who isn't staying at a local hotel overnight to reserve a space on the beach? If so, how is this done? Thank you.
Go to any of the beach concessions (called “Bagno” or “Lido”) and ask to rent chairs, umbrellas, and even a changing cabin if you need. Here are some with website, but there are a bunch.
For a family of 4 in July expect to pay up to 60€ (they charge about 15€ per person per day (but min for one person is around 25€),

If you are there Jul or Aug try to avoid weekends if you mind crowds.
Welcome to Italian summer living (basically “dolce far niente”, or sweet doing nothing). You’ll enjoy it.
Roberto, you have been a tremendous help. Grazie mille!
