We are trying to decide on where to wind down and relax on a beach for the last three days of our three week trip to France and Italy. We already have the Amalfi coast planned into itinerary and went to the Cinque Terre on our last trip... Can anyone provide any suggestions of somewhere else to go (and a hotel to stay in)? We will be traveling out of Rome, so I don't want to go too far. So far, I am looking at Sardinia and Elba...
Check out the area around Orbetello. Porto San Stefano is a small fishing village on the "island". It is a great place to relax and unwind. We like to stop there for a couple of days upon arrival in Italy to get acclimated.
If you have gone as far as Sardinia, why don't take a look at the adriatic coast. If you don't mind crowded beaches for miles and miles, then Rimini beach is your place. We liked it.We spent 2 weeks in Gatteo al Mare, hotel SPIAGGIO,near Cesenaticco not far from Rimini.I bet there are many trains from Rome to the area.Very popular with german torists.
