We're staying in Tuscany for a month and are looking for a relaxing 3 day get-away with our 1-year-old. Any suggestions for a family-friendly town with a sandy beach? Thanks in advance!

Viareggio has sandy beaches. It's near Lucca. But when will you be there?

Thanks! I'll check it out. We will be there mid-May to mid-June. I've been looking at Rimini as well.

If you will stay in the same location for a month, I would ask the folks who will provide your housing there. Perhaps they would have a suggestion. BTW, sandy beaches are very rare on the Italian Med nearest to Tuscany.

Rimini would be nicer, since the Adriatic warms up faster than the Tyrrhenian sea. That said, you're looking at fairly early in the season for beach.

When DS was two, we went for a beach vacation and he completely ruined our fun time! I mean so much of tantrums and mischief.
