I am having trouble booking a rental car in Palermo Sicily in September to drop off in Catania both at the airports with full insurance coverage and a small car at an affordable rate and I need to pick it up on Sunday. I had one booked online and I checked the full insurance coverage box but when I got the confirmation voucher it was not with the full coverage and even though I cancelled online just a short time after I booked it and I paid in full, I am now waiting for a full refund. I don't want that to happen to me instead so should I book the car rental by calling a company? I am finding it difficult to find what I need online. Do you have any ideas what rental car company I should use and I just want the smallest car for 2 people with unlimited mileage, a/c, and a manual or automatic transmission and full insurance coverage? Thank you

Have you tried Enterprise? Sunday are usually more limited timewise in Europe. I would think all of your other requirements could be fulfilled. When you input your reservation into the Enterprise website, you can choose the hour you want to pick up. It will tell you if it is closed or open at the hour you wish to pick up. Same with drop off times. But otherwise, you can indicate different drop off location,
full insurance coverage, manual or automatic, etc.

Have you tried booking through AutoEurope? Many posters have used them and reported they sometimes saved a bit of money. The company is said to be helpful if a problem arises at the rental counter. Other car-rental consolidators are Gemut and Kemwel.

Thank you I have tried them and I will do so again. I was confused about the insurance with the exceptions, and I am going to call them when I get a chance and see if they offer full coverage with no exceptions to see how much that would be. Thank you for your reply.

I have booked the rental car in Sicily from the Palermo airport after we leave from Palermo. I did book through Auto Europe and I called them with all of the questions I had about the car insurance. I was able to get full coverage and asked about all the exclusions first and the only thing that didn't offer insurance for was any injuries we could have inside the rental car for myself or my husband. They may sell that at the counter but I will hopefully take care of that with a travel insurance policy that I will pay for in advance of our trip as I want to add medical evacuation also if we need that. Otherwise the person there was very knowledgeable and I was able to get a discount as they were offering a special too. I will have to pay for the different drop off location at the counter but that is not a big deal either as we once again are picking the car up and dropping it off in Catania. The car will be Europcar and it a mini car. Thanks for your help.
