Hello,
Has anyone been to the Baths of Caracala? Did you enjoy? Can tickets be purchased when you arrive? What is best way to get there? Thank you, Doreen
I think we took the Metro to the nearest stop, but it was still a hot, sun-exposed walk. It's not that far from the Circus Maximus. It has such an influence on neoclassical architecture going down the centuries (Penn Station in NYC, for example) that I considered it essential. But someone who has just been to the Coliseum and the Roman Forum might find it not worth the travel time. It's not an immense monument. I can't overemphasize how hot it can be in Rome.
Sometimes there have been opera or classical concerts there, I think. That might affect accessibility.
We've also been, a number of years ago, and were happy that we'd made the time for it. Unfortunately, I can't tell you how best to get there as we did it en route on a long day hoofing the Appia Antica! We purchased tickets onsite and The Ministry of Culture website states that you can still do that; no reservation necessary.

Using a translation tool (site in only in Italian):
"Tickets can be purchased, without pre-sale costs:
♦ online on the Musei Italiani website;
♦ by phone with the Musei Italiani app available on Google Play and the App Store;
♦ from the totems placed at the entrance of the site (exclusively with electronic payment cards)."
The website linked also provides visiting hours, ticket prices and other info so give it a look-see
Closed on Mondays. I'm not seeing any events listed for Sept; most, if not all, of their musical programs seem to be on summer evenings.
This one is also useful; has a bit more info:

Hours listed for Sept. are: From 1st to 30th September open from 9.00 to 19.00 (last admission at 18.00)
Thank you for your help!
Hi Doreen, I love this site. I was there this past April. They recently added a reflecting pool with water jets and steam. It's a great place to get away from the crowds and chill out. Yes, you can purchase tickets on site. Hope you have a great trip!
