Bassano del grappa italy

We have an opportunity to go to Bassano del grappa as a day trip from Venice but it's on Monday. Is the whole town closed or is it worth the trip.

Bassano del Grappa depends on selling liquor, so most places will be open on Monday. I spent most of a day there a few weeks ago, had a very good time. Be sure to walk across the covered bridge.

Towns in Italy don't just shut for the day. Museums do though, and it is Mondays in Italy, usually.

If you are intending on this day trip to visit a museum then you may feel disappointed.

But the town is still there, and the very nice main square is still there for all to see, the TI will be open, the covered bridge will still be there and you will still be able to see it.

Like most towns in the Veneto it does roll up the sidewalks at lunch time. When I was there at lunch time once I saw about 3 people on the street.

It is a most pleasant town, unique, but similar to many Veneto towns.

Now for the important question - what are you giving up for this day trip from the most beautiful, most serene Venice?

Have you been to Venice previously? If not, do you have at least 4 nights, 3 whole days, in Venice and the lagoon not including the day trip? Have you seen most of what you want to see in Venice already, including the islands?

Bassano del Grappa is a nice town, but it wasn't until my 4th or 5th trip to the Veneto when I was based in Vicenza that I first visited it along with several other Veneto towns (in my own car). It is much closer to Vicenza or Padova than it is to Venezia.
