Basilica San Marco/Venezia - 10 min. limit??

Just bought the skip the line reservations (venetoinside) but did not notice the 10 minute limit until I printed the voucher. Our time is 11:05. Figured we'd enter and start RS audio tour (48 minutes), be able to see the mosaics when they turn on the lights at 11:30 and then continue the audio tour. Given that it's impossible to see even 5 feet of the place in 10 minutes..........what to do? Hide behind a statue? Go outside after 10 mnutes and get in the regular line? Advice please! Thanks.

P.S. Nothing in RS book about a time limit - he says allow one hour for touring the church

Without seeing what you have my guess is there is a 10 minute window on your ticket time. Good till 11.15.

Frank - the exact language on the voucher is: "The duration of the visit inside the Basilica is about 10 minutes to allow everyone the opportunity to enjoy the monument".

I doubt that it will be enforced, sounds like a cya measure.

It is not enforced. We bought skip the line reservations also. Same thing on our ticket. No one shuttled you through to make sure you only stayed 10 minutes. We stayed for as long as we wanted. There is a one way "path" around the inside but you can easily stop and go back if you wanted to re-see something or stand and linger (just step back out of the way of others).

10 minutes is likely longer than the average visit. Without lights on the mosaics, it is enough time. It's a fairly small church. They cordon off all the seats and don't allow people to sit, you have to circulate and stand during the visit. There are chairs but they are reserved for tours which we sat in and were yelled at for doing so. This is the only place we visited where the dress code was strictly (zealously?) enforced.
