I was reading Pienza might be a good option to visit vineries and cheese making in Montepuciiano area. Any hotel rec’s it’s an anniversary trip so willing to splurge

Both are spectacular properties.
borgoargenina.it was priced less when we visited recently and Elena Napa includes a cooking evening with all of her guests. We enjoyed the experience and used this as a base for driving anywhere within 2 hours.

On our own anniversary trip a few years ago we stayed at this place at the recommendation of another RS poster: https://www.montorio.com/home.en.php
It was terrific. It's just down the hill from Montepulciano and just down the street (ie an easy walk) from the San Biagio church. One of the best restaurants in the area is right across the street from the church.
The property itself is beautiful, with sweeping views over the countryside, and the free parking away from the town made it a snap to get on the road and on our way every day. Can't recommend it highly enough.
