Hi there,
Trying to decide on base for 4 nights from Salerno taking the ferry and will only planning to visiting these 2 towns, we will have 3 full days and wanted advice on best place of the 2 to stay, or should we split our time and stay 2 in each.. thanks for your help

I would split the distance and stay in Praiano. Or Ravello, up the hill from Amalfi (Ravello gets slightly less heat in the hottest months).
But of the two, depending on time of year, I would choose Positano.

Positano would be my choice
A far more impressive town than Amalfi
The town of Ravello is a must visit but if staying in Positano you can quite easily see both Amalfi and Ravello in one full day

I haven't been to Amalfi but we spend 3 nights in Positano at the end of a trip and just relaxed there and enjoyed the town immensely. We splurged on a room with a fabulous view and enjoyed breakfasts out there and late night sitting.
