Bari to Naples

I will arrive by ferry to Bari, Italy on October 30th and have until November 5th or 6th to get to Naples (starting a tour on the 8th and thought I'd spend a couple of extra days there). I'm looking for some recommendations of how to spend the time - is it worth it to stay in Bari a few days? Are there other places along the way that are worth a visit? I'd prefer to stay places at least two or three nights, so that I can do day tours or explore and don't spend all my days in transit, but am pretty open.

Any suggestions about locations or transportation would be very much appreciated! I'm expecting to train, but again, flexible.
Thanks!

Matera! Local train from Bari, station is around the corner from Bari Centrale station. A couple of nights will make you very happy, the evening passeggiata is alive and well. Lots to see, and feel. To get to Naples you may have to backtrack through Bari. Let me know is you want a terrific B&B and a restaurant or two.

In Puglia, Lecce or Trani would be nice. Or a couple of nights in Paestum (hotels will pick you up at the station) in Campania.

The coastal towns of Aqua Fredda and Maretea are two of the prettiest towns I have seen along that coast. I think the area is worth a visit. As the other post person said, Matera is worth a visit also. I am sure that you will find something nice.
