Do the FAL trains still run from Bari to Matera? I had difficulty connecting to the FAL website. I understand that you can still get to the FAL station from Bari Centrale, but do not understand where to get off for the Matera Sassi. I realize that I have to walk from the station to the Sassi. Thank you for your help! Gerri
As far as I recollect, Matera is at the end of the line from Bari. It is quite a long walk from the station to the sassi. Also the sassi are difficult to navigate your way around, you might want to take a cab which would be maybe ten euro.
The site seems ok to me: https://eticket.ferrovieappulolucane.it/FAL/
Looking on gmaps, Matera Centrale should be the station closest to the historic center.
Is the website you are using?

No trouble connecting here. It says it leaves from Bari Centrale and there are several stations listed for Matera. On TripAdvisor I was told to use Matera Centrale. The train departs nearly hourly and tickets are €5.
Yes, Matera Centrale is the one. The train stops underground, so be ready for that and be sure to get off - we didn't! If you look at Matera Central on Google maps, you'll have a clue because there are no train tracks shown going in or out of the station.
Thank you so much. I was using an outdated site! Gerri
I was using your site, Lola. I had no trouble with Dario's.
