We are going to travel to Puglia fall 2026. Just 2 of us. We would like to find a nice Airbnb in the Bari area to home base for 1-2 months. Any recommendations would be great!!
Santo Spirito is 3 miles from Bari’s airport and directly on the flight path for planes taking off from there and landing there. Is there some reason you want to stay next to the airport for one to two months?
If you’re looking for beaches, Polignano a Mare or Monopoli would be better choices. Gallipoli is an even better choice.
Why not look in the Murat district, in Bari?
We want to be in a place close to the train line and not in Bari since it's a larger city. We've just started looking so I will check out the places you mentioned. Isn't Gallipoli on the west side? Not a good home base for us.
We'd like to be in a somewhat smaller city, possibly one that doesn't get a ton of tourists. We will travel, of course, to all the other cities while we're there.
Gallipoli is on the west side of Salento. It has sandy beaches on turquoise water versus the rocky, pebble beaches on the eastern side of Salento.
I would recommend Polignano a Mare if you want a smaller town with beaches that is convenient for train travel in Puglia. Polignano a Mare is on the Bari- Polignano a Mare- Monopoli -Lecce train line. It’s 6 minutes by train from Monopoli. From Monopoli you can get to inland towns such as Ostuni, Locorotondo and Alberobello by train/bus.
It depends if you are looking for holiday destination vibes then Polignano or Monopoli would suit you.
If you want somewhere more full of local people then have a look at Trani - it's fantastic.

Another smaller alternative on the train line, but also very pretty, is Giovinazzo.
