Both my parents are from Bari, Italy. I would like to see it. Any good points to this area?
Do a little research on Matera which is fairly close and is a UNESCO World Heritage Center. Very unique and interesting if you are into really old stuff. TC
The church of San Nicola is beautiful, as is the Bari old town. Nearby is the town of Alberobello, with trulli houses (round houses with stone domes) - you'll see some of these in the old part of Bari as well. Matera is great, you can take a bus from Bari (there is no train to Matera). Lecce and Otranto are also very interesting places to visit, but a little further away.
Trani is a beautiful little seaside town less than an hour away by train.
