I will be traveling to Spain and Italy for 15 days this summer. We are working our way from Madrid to Barcelona to Venice, Florence, CT, then Rome. We're planning on using the train for most of our traveling, but are wondering what the best way to get from Barcelona to Venice would be. Plane, train? We don't really care about seeing the coastal area/France that we would miss if we took a plane instead of train. Any opinions on this would be greatly appreciated!
I would fly. There are plenty of cheap flights that will get you from Barcelona to Venice in less than 2 hours. Just be careful about which airport you are flying to. Also, be mindful of luggage fees and other add ons that will drive the cost up significantly. Use skyscanner.net to search specific flights.
Thanks! Ryanair flies into Treviso, which is further away from the Venice than Marco Polo, but the buslines seem easy to get to Venice, is that true?
There is a bus shuttle that connects TSF to Venice (PIazzale Roma)

Also check prices with Vueling Airlines. Vueling operates two daily pairs from BCN to VCE Marco Polo and vice versa.
Vueling is great......flying would save time....there is enough to see while you are on the ground, especially saving time....
Thanks for the advice everyone!! Flying it is :)
Another vote for Vueling. I quite enjoyed my last flight with them. How are you planning to get to the airport in Barcelona?
Planning to take the Aerobus. Make sense?
Is that a feasible option to get to a 6:45am flight?
You can take both the Aerobus or the R2 train from Barcelona Sants.
The train will get you there by 5:30am, which is sufficient for a intra EU Schengen flight.
For the bus consult the timetable because depending from which Terminal you depart, you might not have sufficient time.
In any case, if it's a couple of you traveling together (or more) the taxi is not a bad deal. I think it's still about 20 euro.
