Would like to have advice on a hot air balloon ride in Tuscany for this spring. Is there a particular company to book with. The idea sounds wonderful, but I would like to know from those with some experience or knowledge. It is for three people staying in Montepulciano. Thanks for any tips.

There is more than one company. Search "ballooning in Tuscany" on the web. Also in Italian. The Italian word for ballon is MONGOLFIERA (plural: mongolfiere), Tuscany is Toscana.

This past August my wife and I and our adult daughter took a balloon ride with Balloon in Tuscany. They launch from Tavarnelle which is 35 kilometres south of Florence and 45 kilometres north of Siena. The balloonist, who is a former pilot, has many years of experience and trained several of the balloonists who now operate other companies in the area. We had an absolutely fabulous time! The morning ended with a champagne breakfast at his country home. He is quite a storyteller and speaks excellent English.
He made arrangements for a private driver to pick us up at our hostel in Florence and return us there (at our expense).
