I have to meet a group at the vatican right after I land at airport. Does anybody know if there is anywhere to store a bag (check on size) before going in?
Do you mean the Vatican Museums? I was there eight months ago, they try and discourage people checking bags and will wave you through with a backpack. (Wish I could have checked, I lost a pair of sunglasses to a pick pockecter). In your case it could actually work in your favor, but I would not count on it. Also, the layout can be confusing and the distances very far to pick up your bag, even it's allowed. Give yourself lots of extra time and research on their website in advance.
yes i am looking to train from airport, store my bag while I am at vatican museums etc, then head to my hotel that evening
ok i did some research and it looks like you can store a big suitcase in the "cloakroom" before going into the museum. Does this sound right to anyone?
I noticed when I was in Rome in May that termini train station had a baggage check.
That might work better for you but the lines could be long there.
If your hotel is near the Vatican, you might drop off your bag first, then go to the Vatican Museums.
I would be concerned about meeting a group "right after" your flight arrives. Make sure you have a backup plan or some means of communication if your flight is delayed.
This is directly from the Vatican website:

Depending on where your hotel is it might be more convenient to leave your luggage at the termini station but if you hotel is closer to the Vatican I would store it at the museums. You might also contact the hotel to see if you can just drop it off there before heading to the museums.
