I have read that no backpacks are allowed in the Accademia. Is this for all backpacks or can small nylon ones allowed.
Small backpacks are usually allowed at the discretion of the security guard. I often will get past the security with my black RS Civita because it's less noticeable. But in all the places that have these rules have check rooms and lockers to stash your stuff while you tour the museum if they tell you that you have to or just if you want to.
Hope that helps,

Thanks that is helpful
I agree with the above comment. My husband has a fairly substantial day pack with photography stuff. In Florence, I carried a smallish backpack. I was allowed in the Accademia, my husband was asked to put his bag in the locker,
We found Italy to be the most strict. If it’s says no backpacks, I would be prepared to have to check it.
