We arrive in Milan at Malpensa airport on September 24th and it looks like there is a baggage handlers strike that day! Should we be worried about flight getting canceled or a problem getting our bags if we have any checked bags? We are planning ( hopefully) to do a carry on with our backpacks as our personal items and not have to check any luggage.
Hi,
I posted about this a couple of days ago.
Here are a couple of links:

I’m now taking carryon only as I’m arriving into FCO Rome that day.
It appears to be a 24 hour strike of cargo, baggage and other ground staff.
Adding that I don’t think landings and takeoffs are affected, but perhaps while you’re on the ground , staff in terminals may be taking part, so slowing down arrivals and departures ?
I haven’t read of potential flight cancellations.
Not sure.
I would definitely bring carryon only.
I was told that it could involve other staff such as those who roll out the air bridges and so on. I decided to change my flight and my airline (Emirates) said that that was a good idea.
No doubt they will cancel the strike now!
