We would like to leave our luggage at Termini using the baggage lockers. Is this a good idea? Will our luggage be safe there for a couple of hours on a Sunday afternoon?

Mary, I don't think that you will find lockers in any Italian train stations. They were removed some time ago to prevent possible terrorism events. What they do have in most large train stations is staffed left luggage areas. Rome termini does have one. It is a good idea to leave your luggage there and it is quite safe. The only difficulty could be long lines as it is a popular place.

Termini left luggage is on the lower level, south end of the station or far left as you exit the trains. A very large storage area.
