Hi everyone! I am trying to cram so much into a few days. I was planning to take a day trip to Orvieto from Roma. Now I wonder if I could easily visit Orvieto a day later as I travel by train from Roma to Siena. Rick's book says there is no baggage check at the Orvieto RR station, but there is at the nearby Hotel Picchio for 4 euros. Has anyone tried that recently? It would be a real problem to arrive with a bag or two, and have no place safe to leave it. Grazie folks. Larry

We stayed at Hotel Picchio a couple of years ago and left luggage there for a short time after check-out. I think it would be o.k. to leave it there - it's a pretty short walk from the train station in Orvieto. You can see the location on Rick's Orvieto map in the Italy guidebook. I'd e-mail them first to make sure they still accept left luggage and let them know what time you plan to arrive. It would be lots easier than trying to see Orvieto efficiently with bags - carry any essential things with you in a backpack.

I recently contacted the hotel about bag storage and they confirmed the service, as I am doing something similar
