Baggage Handler Strike Italy 9/8/23??

Hi All, my family of 6 is set to arrive this Friday in Rome (8 Sept 23) in Rome. We have planned this trip for over a year, and just herd about the baggage strike. We planned to do carry on only and will be flying direct from US to Rome with an 8 am scheduled arrival. Now I am panicked about our flight getting canceled. Part of me thinks it won’t, it will land and then perhaps if no one can unload, it will sit there and impact a departure…or if e ought planes are sitting and can’t be unloaded certainly arrivals will have to be canceled?? If going one day earlier is in option, should I do that? Sorry, just don’t know what to do and what the odds are that my flight will be canceled…it’s our first trip to Italy and honestly we don’t travel internationally much so I just don’t know what to do.

I seriously don't think they'll cancel flights over a baggage strike, but getting your bags after the flight could be a major hassle.

If you're already planning to carry on, great. It's by far the best way to travel. Be sure to check the airline website carefully for carry on allowances and requirements. Make sure everyone is well within the limits so there is no question whether you might have to gate check a bag at the last minute. Bags expand during your trip, leave yourself a little room to grow, so you're still good on the way home.
