Hi All.
I’m headed to Venice in a week (from Vancouver) and have heard that baggage handlers and ground crew are planning a walk out on the day I am arriving in Venice.
I’m assuming my flight from Amsterdam to Venice will be cancelled. I am flying solo and with Delta (KLM). Will I be compensated for the flight if it’s horribly delayed or cancelled? And will I qualify for hotel/food credits if I have to spend time in Amsterdam unexpectedly.
Ugh…
Thanks in advance people!

Strikes are not covered.
You should be getting a message from the airline on your options.
Easy Jet has a flight at 17:10 from AMS to VCE
I would think if you bought trip cancellation and interruption travel insurance, it would be covered under that?
Whatever happens, keep every bit of evidence you can , to make a claim later.
Edit: I’ve just looked at the details of my Canadian credit card travel insurance.
It doesn’t specifically mention strikes, but it does mention comp. for delays over 4 hours.
Of course, you had to have paid for the trip with that card.
I’d call my travel insurance provider now, to be sure.
Gads, I hope this doesn’t happen! I’m also going to Venice, September 12…
This article lists several strike dates in September:
Thanks everyone.
Not much I can do about it it seems so I’ll enjoy Amsterdam if my flight into Venice gets cancelled.
