Baggage check Orvieto

Hello! We are planning on stopping in Orvieto on our way out of Rome to Siena. I read, in Ricks book that day trippers should store luggage at Hotel Picchio. Has anyone done this? Im guessing its not a good idea to leave suitcases in the rental car? Thanks Gina

Well, certainly not in plain view. If you leave the suitcases in the trunk they'll probably about as safe as at a hotel. If somebody is going to steal the car or break in when no valuables are visible, you have bigger problems than the luggage.

I think Rick's "day tripper" advice is primarily for backpackers and others who do not have a car.

I am also looking for a place to store luggage in the town, preferably close to the train station. The local train station does not appear to have a baggage check according to trenitalia.com.

Suggestions?

i have not done this but I can't see why a hotel that you are not staying at would store your luggage???? I would call before and ask as there is no luggage check at the train station in Orvieto. Happy travels!

I've had the same question. I was wishing we could stop for the morning (going by train) on our way from Rome to Florence. We also are not planning to spend the night in Orvieto....so our luggage becomes a problem. I thought maybe we'd take a side trip the day before from Rome instead, which then might seem silly as the next day we'd go right past there again on our way to Florence?? Wasn't sure about keeping it at the hotel either...?

I wrote to the Hotel Picchio, and here was the favorable response:

Buongiorno
We can store your luggages for 4 euro per bag per day
Our hotel is 200m. far from the train station where is located also the funicular station that takes you in 2 minutes in the center of the historical orvieto.
Kind regards
Hotel picchio
