In the neighborhoods that you list, the price you want is going to be a challenge. Campo Fiori and Pantheon especially are two higher priced areas. We were able to get a double room at Hotel Paba (Colosseum area) in November for 90E.

If you are a fly by the seat of your pants kind of person and are traveling in the slow season, you could check vrbo or even craigslist for last minute deals/specials.

We stayed in June of last year for a couple of nights at "Al Pantheon con Thomas Mann B&B". I found it listed on Venere.com. It is located steps away from the Pantheon. You walk out the front door and there it is. I cant tell you the feeling of viewing this incredible building on a bright summer morning before all the tourists arrive! As far as the room goes, it's not much. Nothing exceptional to speak of. Like a room on a cruise ship, you dont want to stay there other than to shower & sleep. Dont get me wrong the place is clean, the people (when they're there) are friendly & helpful. Our double room had a bathroom, fan, no TV, and no window, for under 90 euro per notte.

To stay there for nine nights, I dont know. But the location was outstanding, within 1 mile walking distance to all major sites.

Diane, we stayed about a mile or so East of Termini in an wonderful air conditioned apt, with balconys overlooking a river and a park. We were on two Express bus lines that either took us directly to the Termini area, or the Spanish Steps, etc. at all hours of the day and night. It was in a great neighborhood of restaurants, shops, and stores that made our stay very enjoyable.

By staying a little ways out, but making sure we had transportation connections, we were able to find a quiet and roomy apt for less than $90 US/nite.(VRBO.com, #13150)

When we stay in one place in the EU for 5 days or more we always rent an apt, and have had very good luck using VRBO or Homelidays.com
