Planning an anniversary trip to Sicily in October. Would love to stay at charming, clean, unique B&B’s or hotels. If anyone has recommendations for Palermo, Syracuse or Agrigento please post. We will be there 9 nights with a car. I’ve seen the ones Rick suggests but I’m still looking.
Any other tips such as restaurants or guides please let me know. Thank you.
Take a look at the B&Bs listed under "Porto Empedocle." There are many tempting options, and you will be within very easy driving distance from the Temples. You will also be closer to Scala dei Turchi.
Also take a look at CIUCCI'S MANOR. A very well regarded poster from NYC stayed there a few years ago and loved it. Also easy to drive to the Temples.
In Agrigento we stayed at B&B Villa San Marcos. From it we walked to the temples via a path through the olive grove. It also offered dinner that we took advantage of, so we didn’t go into town. It is about a half mile down a dirt road. It helped to look it up on Google maps and street view to know where to turn to get to it.
Scala de Turchi is a few kilometers outside of Agrigento. Rather than walking down the steps we viewed it from a nearby overlook. To get a better view of the rock formations we drove a short distance down the coast to Lido Rossello. There’s a free parking lot by Trattoria del Pesce if you wanted to spend time at the beach.
In Siracusa, consider Domus Mariae, Hotel Gutkowski or Roma
