kim, You might have a look at Hotel Savoia. It's in a good location, the rooms are very comfortable and the ones on the front have a great view.

Positano is a very small town so IMHO it doesn't matter where you sleep if there is a large price difference. If you are bringing a car, make sure there is free parking included because it can get pricey (24E+). I have seen many people lugging all of their luggage up half the town because you have to park far away from the waterfront accommodations.

Because of the problems Emily mentions, we opted to stay in Amalfi. Lots of options there.
