We are looking for a B&B in Vernazza for a few days in mid April. The Camere Fontana Vecchia is listed as "quiet" in RS' book but they have no website/pictures. Has anyone stayed there recently?
Miles, In April my husband and I are staying at a B&B in Vernazza called Albergo Barbara (e-mail:[email protected] web: www.albergobarbara.it). We found good reviews on it, maybe try here? Good Luck!
I was in Vernazza in May 06 and stayed at Rick's pick in his Italy book, Trattoria Gianni Franzi they have a website http://www.giannifranzi.it/.
I loved staying there, it's very basic almost no amenities but the price was right, and everything they don't have is made up with the view.
If you get a double room with shared bathroom with balcony you get a better view than with a bathroom.
Check out the photos on the site including their terrace over the water, amazing!
Thanks, Kelly, tried the Albergo Barbara but they have no rooms available. Tried the Trattoria Gianni next but have not heard back yet. Is street noise in Vernazzo at night an issue in mid April?
Try Room Martina. It is on the plaza and noisy at night from the people at the bar but you do have a nice view of the harbor and can watch the happenings from your room. No breakfast! Rather expensive for no food to be served. You might be able to make a deal for room cost shhhh because of tax reasons. Lots of stairs to climb but where are there NO stairs in Vernazza, Florence, etc. etc. etc. You get good exercise.
