I have looked at two Agriturismos that I liked in the Tuscan area and they are booked the first 2 weeks in October and another that is way out of our budget. We can't stay a week so we are not able to book at another..WOW 9 months away and already booked !!
Our budget is 100 Euro and less per night. We don't need much in way of extras ( pool, bikes etc. )
While in Normandy 2 years ago I booked a farmhouse that was 50Euro a night for 2 of us !! It was tucked away in the country not far from town and it was so perfect that we still talk about it. It was a working farm. It was warm, clean comfortable, nice breakfast with wonderful coffee...Thats what I am looking for in Tuscany. I have to buy the new 2016 Rick Steves Book ( mine way too old for sleeping info) so I will ask you guys your thoughts and experiences until I buy it.
Thank you in advance
Pat
I stayed at two agriturismos on RS tours. They were ok, but the large dining rooms were packed at dinner time which detracted from any rural quality they had. You may want a more modest-sized operation.
I have the 2016 Italy book from Rick Steves. It has some individual listings and a web address: www.agriturismoitaly.it. It lists a booking agency (Farm Holidays in Tuscany): [email protected]. You can also search the Internet for "agriturismos in Italy."
In your price range you might have better luck just looking for B&Bs.
Booking websites also include agriturismi, you might try looking there and filtering by price. My friends and I found a great place in the Veneto region for only 40euro per night, so I am pretty sure you can find something in Tuscany for about a hundred. The booking sites will also list B&Bs, so you can comparison-shop.
I am looking at hotels.com now. I have never stayed at a place not recommended by RS book but I have to for my price listing..
Than you for your input

We stayed at the Castillo di Verrazzano near Greve and loved it! The rates were 65 Euro a night (in December). The room was comfortable and Isabella did a great job of keeping it clean and well stocked. The included breakfast was wonderful. We usually had a big breakfast and then just snacked for lunch.
The location is great for exploring Tuscany - all the hill towns are a 1 1/2 hours away or less. There's bus service to Florence, which is better than driving and trying to park. It's also fun to get to know the locals.
A lovely little b&b outside of San Gimingnano called Il Vicario. Budget friendly, awesome hosts, cooking classes, etc dinners at night with wine pairings. Lots to love. We will be returning in April for our annual visit.

No idea on availability, but Poggio Etrusco has a roomn for Euro 85.00 per night. We enjoyed it there very much (although we had an apartment).
Don't assume that they're actually booked this far in advance. If you're looking at an online calendar, it's possible that they just haven't released the dates yet. It is Italy, remember, and there's a more relaxed approach to lots of things. A lot of the mom-and-pop places go dormant until February or even March. You might try emailing the two places you were considering and see if that helps. If you don't hear anything from them, it could well be that they're dormant and would have availability starting in February or even March.
Good luck.
I did email both Agriturismos themselves and both replied fairly quick and were booked but offered me other dates. It surprised me but that's ok...I am getting good ideas here and using other sites also BUT I prefer this site for experienced travelers. It's like reading a good book !!

Don't know if you've found anything in Rome, but this one is close to the Vatican.
It also enables you to take the train from the airport to S. Pietro stop.
