B&B in Rome

Respected travelers,
I am wondering whether any of you can recommend a basic, comfortable B&B for me and husband in Rome. I have looked on tripadvisor and in guidebooks (including RS), so I am looking for your personal experience/opinion. We will be staying for 7 nights and would love a private bathroom and (in an ideal world) access to a fridge or kitchen and living room, terrace, or sitting area. We don't need to be in the center of things but would like to be able to sight-see easily from the B&B. Also, have any of you been able to negotiate directly with a B&B owner in Rome for a reduced rate based on staying for multiple days?

Thank you!

I loved Domus Diana, 10 min walk through a park to the Colosseum. It's in a neighborhood and just lovely. We wanted to stay there again on our June 2014 trip, but she is all booked up. We booked the Relais Terme di Tito this time. Hoping it's nice!

We'd love to be able to stay somewhere under $100 per night (if that exists). Never having been to Rome, the prices on the B&B websites are difficult to evaluate b/c they show such a range. We are visiting in early October which I understand is high season.

Hi Beth,
This is over your budget, but we really enjoyed Domus Cavour B&B, in the Prati area. The bathroom was en suite, the breakfast room becomes a sitting room the rest of the day, and there is a kitchen (though we didn't use it.) We paid €125/night last May, it was €10/night if you paid with a credit card. The owner, Cristiano, is great--very attentive but not over-bearing, good source of local info (important stuff, like best gelato and pizza close by), and has some great stories about "real" life in Rome. I would go back there again.

B&B Little Italy. Clean, simple, owned by a Dutchman and his American wife. Easy access to public trans.

$100 US is at the very bottom of the spectrum when it comes to Rome pricing. I think you need to consider apartments rather than a B&B, esp. since you're wanting access to a kitchen. Apartments are much less expensive than places with a lot of overhead, such as B&Bs. Check out vrbo.com and airbnb.com.

Thanks for the suggestions, all. And keep 'em coming if you have others. We likely need to adjust our price expectations, which is fine.
