My previous question seems to have disappeared, so here goes again. Does anyone have a favorite (even a hotel) in center'ish' of Rome? We will be there 9 days so appreciate something not too far off of $100/nite. Some places are booked, some share a bath, some are off the beaten track, etc. Would PREFER Trastevere. Thanks...
$100 is only about 81 euros. You might need to add to that if you want somewhere within the center or with a private bath. You can use venere.com to look for places within your budget or preferred area. donna
81 euros for Trastevere may be tough to find. You might have better luck with an apartment rental. We stayed at a lovely B and B in the Balduina area of Rome this past June. Not so touristy, but great connections via bus, metro and the FM train. Clean quiet. GREAT AC and a great neighborhood feel with lots of cafes bars and markets nearby. Sapporo di Casa (hope I'm spelling it correctly).
When are you planning to go? That influences the prices.
End of October to 5th of November...
By all means stay somewhere central: Trastevere, P.za Navona, Campo dei Fiori, maybe as far as the Colosseo. Use VRBO.com, Booking.com, Venere.com. For nine nights you can negotiate a bit. I was able to get 9 nights at low season rate during high season last December.
