Does anyone have a reccomendation for a B&B or small hotel at Lake Maggiore, Italy
David, I have stayed at three great places on Lake Maggiore. My favorite is Hotel Pironi in Cannobio. It is in a converted monastery a short walk from the lake shore and dock. It is wonderful. I believe you can find it with a google search. They have a web site. I have also stayed at Hotel Eden in Stresa. it is right across the road from the boat dock. My least favorite (but the view from the rooms is wonderful because it's on the lake side of the road and all the rooms have balconies overlooking the lake) was in Baveno at........the name escapes me right now. I will think of it and send you the name. We didn't like it because they cater to German tourists and it was very obvious that they do NOT like Americans. We stayed there 3 nights. Let me know if you need anything else. If you go, you must take the boat out of Stresa over to the island and eat at the restaurant on the island....also can't think of the island's name or the restaurant. Let me know if you want to names and I will email them back to you when I get home.
Karren
The hotel on the lake side in Baveno is Carillon. The restaurant on the island out of Stresa is Verbania. Let me know if you need anything else. I have phone numbers and addresses of all the places I have eaten and stayed on Lake Maggiorie.
Don't remember the places, since it's been a long time, but Cannobio is one of the quaintest towns there. However consider also Baveno or Stresa where you can easily reach the islands.
Several websites suggest B&B.
